The Committee was founded in 2004 by the Ministerial Council in order to constitute the common platform for political planning, coordination, monitoring and development of the IT nationally and especially in the Public Sector.

The members of the Committee are:

• The Special Secretary for the Information Society, of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Prof. V. Asimakopoulos, who is the coordinator,
• The Secretary General for Public Administration and E-Governance, of the Ministry of Interior, Public Administration and Decentralization, M.V. Andronopoulos,
• The Secretary General for the Information Technology Systems, of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, M. D. Anagnostopoulos,
• The Secretary General for Research and Technology, of the Ministry of Development, M. I. Tsoukalas and
• The president of the limited liability company “ Information Society Ltd” (ISLtd), M. K.Doukas.

During the last meeting, the Committee evaluated the progress of the project for the National Network of Public Administration “Sizefxis”. The Committee emphasizes the need for an immediate implementation of “Sizefxis”, since it deems it as a crucial step for the telecommunications’ infrastructure and services, and for the creation of scale economies for the Public administration.

Apart from the other parameters the Committee touched upon the institutional dimension of the National Network of Public Administration and talked about its potential use after the end of the fixed period. The Committee will identify and study alternative long term uses of “Sizefxis”, which will maximize the return on investment.

Another topic of discussion was the need to map the IT systems in the public institutions in order to identify gaps and overlapping responsibilities.

Furthermore, the Committee evaluated the progress of the actions that were implemented by the new Administration Board of ISLtd, to assure they promoted the Operational Program for the Information Society. The President of ISLtd informed the members of the tender Committee that had been announced during the last 50 days. These were: five open tenders , of 8.09M€ and 2 informal ones of 230.000€ total budget. The signing of the agreements for four projects of 1.12M€ was also approved.

In order to ensure the transparency of the procedures, the Committee was informed of the decisions for the amendment of the Regulation Governing the Committees responsible for the evaluation of the Tenders, which are submitted to (tenders) organized by the ISLtd. The Committee was also informed of the expansion and reevaluation of the Competitions’ Evaluators Registry as well as on the measures that were taken for the facilitation and simplification of the competitions’ organization procedures. One of these measures was the creation of the Documents’ Depository.

The Committee will proceed with its work in July through a series of meetings for the discussion of the progress of the Operational Program for the Information Society and of the support and acceleration of appropriate actions.
