The Special Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity met with the Committee for strategy planning and IT development and informed it of the new strategic plan of the national Health System for data management called “IASYS”.

The Ministerial Council founded the Committee in 2004, as the common platform for political planning, coordination, monitoring and development of the IT at a national level and especially in the Public Sector.

• The Secretary General for Public Administration and E-Governance, of the Ministry of Interior, Public Administration and Decentralization, M.V. Andronopoulos,
• The Secretary General for the Information Technology Systems, of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, M. D. Anagnostopoulos,
• The Secretary General for Research and Technology, of the Ministry of Development, M. I. Tsoukalas and
• The president of the limited liability company“ Information Society Ltd” (ISLtd), M. K.Doukas.
  

Through the meetings with the Special Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity, was demonstrated that current projects of the “IS” Operational Program can practically support the basic feature of “IASYS”, that is the technologically similar operation form of the system around the whole Greek territory. Moreover, they meet the requirements for a horizontal interoperability.

During the last business meeting the participants analyzed the economic and technical details of “IASYS” and selected the basic features that will be incorporated in the existing tenders in order to implement the IT project of the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity in the most effective, economic and fast way.

The Committee regards “IASYS” as one of the most important projects for the National Health System, both in terms of infrastructure and of services. For that reason the Committee insists on an immediate start of its implementation and deems that the successful cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity is a very positive step towards that direction. The implementation procedure fully supports the Ministry’s needs and strategic goals. Moreover, based as it is on the existing tenders it allows the IT market to take part instantly.

Through its interventions the Committee has highlighted its role as it was described in the official gazette for its formation. According to that publication in the OG, the Committee is responsible for the setting of the context for the development and operation of the Public Sector’s IT Systems.

The Committee will proceed with its work in July through a series of meetings for the discussion of the “IS” Operational Program’s progress and of the support and acceleration of the relevant actions.
