The Director of the SMS of the “IS” OP is appointed in accordance with article 7 of the Law. 2860/2000.
According to article 7: in any special authority there is the Director’s position. The director is appointed for a two-year period and there is the possibility of renewing his tenure one or more times for an equal length of time.

If the Director falls under the dispositions of L. 2683/1999, the appointment is done through the assignment of exclusive duties for a period equal to tenure. The tenure can be renewed one or more times for an equal length of time. The assignment is done following a decision of the competent Minister or of the Secretary General of the Region.

In any other case the position is filled with an appointment decision of the competent Minister or of the Secretary General of the Region, for a two (2) year tenure, which can be renewed one or more times.

In the case of disciplinary offences, the Directors of the Special Authorities fall under the jurisdiction the Special Service Council of article 159 of L. 2683/1999.

Director’s Curriculum Vitae

Stelios Christakos was born in Athens in 1965 and is married with two children. He is a graduate of the Law School of the University of Athens and holds postgraduate degrees in Economics and Information Technology. He has a long professional experience in the fields of IT and Communications since, during the last 17 years, he has participated in the planning, management and implementation of projects for the development of systems for the private and the public sector, in Greece and abroad.

He has been the founder and managing consultant of the IT Company “ANALYSIS IT SYSTEMS Ltd”, that was active in the development of software, in programming and in the implementation and support of integrated information systems. Apart from his thorough knowledge of the procedures based on Quality Assurance Systems and his long experience in the fields of Information Technology and Communication Technologies, he has a valuable experience in subjects concerning the procedures and the institutional framework governing the contracts and the Tenders.
