Introductory presentation
Infosoc is the printed and electronic magazine issued monthly by the Special Management Service of the Operational Programme Information Society within the framework of Publicity and Information actions.
at the service of Information Society and Information…
The magazine’s first issue was released in late June 2002, consisted of only 4 pages, and its premiere coincided with the 2nd Monitoring Committee on 27th June of that year. In the preface of that issue, the then Special Secretary, George Papakonstantinou stated: “the factor determining the success of the initiatives that have commenced and of the actions to be implemented is the right information.
Towards this direction the specific publication is aiming by putting a major effort to record, describe and disseminate the developments in the Information Society”.
The objective of the magazine – which was upgraded from a press release into a small magazine of up to 24 pages, and of an average of 16 pages in the past few months – remains the same. Its topics are not only limited in the actions of OPIS and their promotion but extend to the presentation of each action and activity in Greece and Europe which affects the Information Society and its applications.
Infosoc is released in the beginning of every month. The interested party may find a digital version of the magazine in the following pages while its printed version is sent to approximately 6000 subscribers, mainly to the ultimate beneficiaries of the OP but not only to these beneficiaries.
At the same time, hundreds of its copies are distributed in exhibitions, conferences, one-day conferences and other events in which the Special Management Service participates with the aim to promote the OPIS.
