The Ad hoc Secretary of the “Information Society” informs the Members of the Parliament.

On Wednesday, 29 March, the Special Secretariat of the “Information Society” informed the Ad-hoc Research & Technology Committee of the Parliament about the Digital Strategy of period 2006-2013.


This task of informing the MPs was the responsibility of  Vasileios Asimakopoulos. The view of the Special Secretariat for the “Information Society” is that the Digital Strategy 2006-2013 of the country spins around six axes.

These axes are:

  • Promotion of the use of ICT in businesses. This axis includes the dissemination of best business practices, the encouragement of electronic transactions and the increase in broadband accessibility.
  • Support of the Information sector by simplifying the institutional framework which governs information technology projects and the coordination for the promotion of Greek enterprises abroad.
  • Supply of digital services to enterprises and restructuring of the public sector. This axis involves the supply of services in connection with electronic procurements and digital certificates.
  • Promotion of entrepreneurship in sectors which utilize IT. This axis aims to improve entrepreneurial skills within the academic community and simplify business start-up formalities.
  • Improvement of daily life through IT. This axis aims to increase broadband and electronic services penetration in the daily routines of the citizens.
  • Development of digital services for the citizen. This axis includes targeted actions aiming to enhance the services to citizens of the rural areas on the basis of identified needs, and the provision the top 20 services (on the basis of demand) in electronic form.

This information session was attended by the following persons: Mr. Spyros Vyzantios, President of the Federation of Hellenic Information Technology & Communication Enterprises (.S.E.P.E.); Mr. Ioannis Theodoropoulos, Executive Vice-President of S.E.P.E and Mr.Ioannis Syrros, General Manager of S.E.P.E.
