Access to the Information Society and all the opportunities and possibilities provided by it is a constitutional right of all the Greek people. However, it needs the cooperation of the state, the private sector and, of course, the citizens.

The Ministerial Council founded the Information Technology Committee in the spring of 2004. The decision for its foundation was taken following an evaluation of the progress of the interventions for the Information Society. The evaluation demonstrated the need for a unified and cohesive strategy for Information Technology in Greece.

The “IS” OP which is implemented by the Ministry of Economy and Finance in the context of the 3rd CSF is one of the most important sectorial projects in our country since it promotes the Information Technologies in the public institutions, in schools, in the local service providers and it develops the bandwidth connections.
