Regulation 1260/99 (article 42, par. 4) anticipates the conduct of the Intermediate Assessment Evaluation with the preparation of a First Review Essay that must be completed and submitted to the European Committee by no later than 31/12/2005, in order for future interventions to be prepared.

The Administrative Authority is primarily responsible for organizing and preparing the proper execution of the OP’s IS project. The work of the Assessment Advisor is supervised throughout the entire duration of the contract by the Administrative Authority of the O.P. Society of Information (unit A), a body that is also responsible for providing the Administrative Advisor with guidance and instructions.

The aims of this assessment are:

• To provide up to date information and analysis which will contribute to more effective materialization and completion of the O.P. Information Society 2000-2006
• To express an estimation for the degree of attainment, with its completion, of the Operational Program Information Society
• Any evidence and analysis that arise from the results of the 3rd CSF and especially from the O.P. Information Society 2000-2006 that contribute to the proper planning strategies and programs of the next programming period, and as such, coincide chronologically with the preparation of the new policies and programs of the Structural Funds, will be put into effect during the period 2007-2013.
