@ Communications
If you want to move beyond communication boundaries then you are in the Information Society. InfoSoc is based on the transfer and processing of information and data at rapid speeds. High speed communications require utilisation of rapid internet which is usually referred as broadband.

| Project Description |
 |
The purpose of the project is to promote demand for and use of broadband services and infrastructure in the Western Greece Region. This will be done by informing agencies, special target groups and the public about this matter and by demonstrating the potential for broadband access to the internet.
In particular the project seeks to promote broadband demand via the following generalised actions:
- Study on demand for broadband services and the potential for developing broadband infrastructure in the Western Greece Region and briefing agencies in the region and telecom companies about the options and opportunities for development.
- Organising info days and promotion via advertisements, spreads and broadcasts in the mass media and distribution of printed materials.
- Installation and operation of a broadband marketing kiosk which combines two areas demonstrating broadband options and services (one indoor with wired broadband – ADSL access and one outdoor with wireless broadband – Wi-Fi access).
- Briefing and support agencies in the Western Greece Region so develop and operate similar broadband demonstration and marketing spots.
More specifically, the individual actions to be implemented (in the context of these general actions) to achieve the overall objective are:
- Collecting data on the need and demand for broadband services in the Western Greece Region.
- Study on the potential for developing broadband infrastructure and services in the Western Greece Region.
- Presentation of data to players (municipalities, prefectures, chambers, universities, TEI, hospitals, etc.) and telecom operators.
- Developing a website to market and promote broadband.
- Broadband help desk.
- Organising one-day events and presentations for the target audience: players, companies, professionals and the general public.
- Televisions advertisements and shows on local television stations.
- Radio announcements and advertising spots and shows on local radio stations.
- Notices, articles and other spreads in local newspapers.
- Advertising material (brochures, flyers, page markers, etc.) for distribution to heighten interest.
- Designs for demonstration kiosk (indoor kiosks with wired connections and the option for wireless broadband connections).
- Development a uniform look used in kiosks, advertising and other promotional materials.
- Creation of broadband services and options kiosks.
- Creation of hotspots for wireless Wi-Fi broadband connections to demonstrate broadband services and options outdoors.
- Operation of kiosks and presentation of broadband options.
- Support for broadband marketing by other players (prefectures, municipalities, chambers, etc.) by disseminating the results of kiosks and provision of support to such agencies when submitting proposals.
This combination of actions covers the entire spectrum of information, marketing and promotional activities related to broadband and is expected to heighten interest in the issue and then to increase demand for broadband infrastructure and services in the entire Western Greece Region.
