If you dream of knowledge without borders, you know what the Information Society is. InfoSoc is making knowledge more accessible and more direct for all. School pupils, students and educators are utilising new technologies and the internet each day to find and transmit information and data, to communicate and collaborate in new ways.
In the Information Society classes use the potential of computers making lessons more interesting, more vital, with sounds, images and data reproductions. Students can use the internet from home as well to search for data and information rapidly, to communicate with fellow students and teachers and to submit the work online.
| Characteristic Project |
 |
A characteristic example of an education project is ‘Educating instructors in utilising IT and telecommunications technology in education’
Objectives of the Project
Via this project the InfoSoc Operational Programme is giving educators in all areas of specialisation in primary and secondary education (general and technical education) the opportunity to learn how to use and utilise ICT in the educational process.
To date more than 84 000 educators have been trained.
However, the project does not end with the training course. The next substantive step is to confirm ICT skills and knowledge of educators which will bring the training project to a close.
| Certification |
 |
What should educators know about certification?
The project offers all educators the chance to acquire an official certificate covering core knowledge and skills in ICT usage. This certificate is an important professional qualification nowadays.
How can the certificate be obtained?
Educators are certified by Certification Centres.
Which educators can participate in the certification process?
All educators without exception. Educators who participated in training courses and those who did not but still want to certify their knowledge acquired in various ways can sign up for certification. There are no restrictions.
How can interested parties learn about the certification process?
The Ministry of Education provides a series of support and information services concerning certification for educators. Educators have the following services at their disposal:
- Phone-based support: A call centre (2610 911500) provides immediate information and handles emergencies from 9:00 to 19:00 hours on working days.
- Information is available at the Ministry's site: www.sch.gr/epimorfosi. Educators can obtain accurate, up-to-date information covering general project information, organisational issues, official documents (circulars, ministerial decisions) and the applicable procedures. The website content also covers examples of certification topics in the sections entitled ICT certification for educators, Preparatory materials.

- The website http://epimorfosi.cti.gr provides access to the operation's integrated information system where the educator training procedures have been automated.
- There is an IT system allowing application forms to be submitted by educators online. The website http://epimorfosi.cti.gr/certification provides access by educators to certification support procedures. Familiarisation tests are also available online to educators via the application form submission environment for the project IT system at the above website.
