The basic objective of the action plan for the provision of information and publicity of the Operational Programme “Information Society” (according to the Programme Complement) is:

- The most complete possible provision of information and sensitization of the interested potential Ultimate Beneficiaries as well as the public opinion, in general (at a central and regional level) for the purposes, directions, priorities and actions of the programme.
- The realistic promotion of the positive impacts arising from the implementation of the programme and the role played by the European commission through the Structural Funds.
The organisation and monitoring of the publicity of the Operational Programme is done with the cooperation and on the basis of the directions of the Managing Authority of the CSF and serves the objectives set in Regulation (EC) 1159/2000.
In this framework the communication objectives of the OP are focused on the following:
- To inform the potential Ultimate Beneficiaries and final recipients with the aim of maximum participation of the potential Ultimate Beneficiaries in the submission of proposals and the integration of projects.
- To inform the beneficiaries as regards the benefits of the programme.
- To publicise the programme and inform the public opinion about the action fields of the programme.
- To inform and sensitize the public sector services and the supervised bodies.
- The Special Management Service to provide guidelines about the publicity rules that must be observed by the involved bodies (Ultimate Beneficiaries and contractors).
Consultancy services and support of the Special Management Service of the Operational Programme “Information Society” for publicity actions
- The development of the portal is in the implementation phase of the contract between the Special Management Service of the Operational Programme “Information Society” and the contractor.
- The tender for a publicity consultant was cancelled. It is anticipated that the tender will be called again until the end of 2005.
- A guide for the monitoring of the contract for a publicity consultant was concluded.
- An audit about the recognisability and penetration of the Operational Programme “Information Society” was concluded.
In 2004, the Special Management Service of the Information Society focused its activity on a series of information – publicity actions which are the following:

More specifically:
I. Operational Programme website
Development of the Special Management Service website www.infosoc.gr. The website provides complete information as regards the Operational Programme “Information Society”, useful links and material for wider issues that concern the Information Society and the European Union. The information includes, inter alias, all the invitations, project tenders, the progress of the Operational Programme, support material for the Ultimate Beneficiaries, events, Press releases etc. The website was re-designed with the aim of improving its operationability. The development of the new portal of the Operational Programme “Information Society” started at the end of 2004.
II. Info desk
The operation of the info desk in the Special Management Service “Information Society” continued successfully in 2004. The info desk provides information for Ultimate Beneficiaries, potential Ultimate Beneficiaries and every interested party. The communication with the info desk was enriched with the information telephone line 0801-11-25555.
III. Progress information reports of the Operational Programme “Information Society”
Information reports about the progress of the Operational Programme “Information Society” are produced on a fortnight basis and are published in the website www.infosoc.gr, of the Special Management Service of the Operational Programme “Information Society”.
IV. Newsletter
”Infosoc”, the monthly magazine, (70,000 issues annually) presents every month issues that concern the specific intervention field and the Information Society. “Infosoc” is sent by post to the Ultimate Beneficiaries of the Operational Programme and other bodies. Moreover, it is distributed to the participants in events and exhibitions organized by the Special Management Service “Information Society” or in which it participates.
V. Publication of printed and electronic information material
- Publication and reproduction of 50 CD-ROMs containing photographic material from the implementation progress of the Operational Programme “Information Society”.
- Reproduction of 1,000 booklets concerning the “Wireless Metropolitan Network of Athens”.
- Reproduction of 2,100 booklets concerning the “Pan-Hellenic School Network”.
- Reproduction of 5,000 booklets concerning the “Electronic Address Guide”.
- Reproduction of 1,000 booklets concerning the “HELLAS GRID”.
- Reproduction of 5,000 booklets concerning the “OPERATIONAL PROGRAMME”.
- Creation and reproduction of 300 booklets concerning the “Horizontal action of networking public information centres”.
- Creation and reproduction of 6,000 leaflets for the Operational Programme “Information Society”.
- Production of two (2) videos of informative content for the projects implemented by the Operational Programme “Information Society”.
- Creation of a CD-ROM about “Broadband access”.
- Recording and presentation of details about events, exhibitions etc scheduled to be carried out in the immediate future and are related to the Information Society to the website of the Special Management Service of the Operational Programme “Information Society”, www.infosoc.gr.
VI. Organisation of educational meetings
Information of Ultimate Beneficiaries
Information – Training meetings of the Ultimate Beneficiaries or potential Ultimate Beneficiaries of the programme in which the following were specially emphasized:
- The integration procedure, with emphasis on the submission and evaluation of proposals.
- The implementation and monitoring of the projects.
- The electronic submission of the Technical Reports for Projects – Sub-projects and monitoring booklets as well as the application of the EC Regulation 1159/2000

There were entries concerning the provision of information for the potential Ultimate Beneficiaries about the invitations and the provision of information for the public about the progress of the Operational Programme “Information Society” as well as its possibilities and perspectives etc.
More specifically, the following were carried out:

- 120 entries in regional Media (newspapers)
- 1,320,000 entries in the Internet (visitors 3 x 440,000).
